Nine41 Privacy Policy
Nine41 replaces the status bar in your iPhone and iPad screenshots. It does that entirely on your Mac. Your screenshots never leave it, and we don't collect anything that identifies you.
Your Screenshots Stay on Your Mac
- Nine41 reads and edits only the screenshots you give it: by dragging, pasting or opening them, or by editing one in Photos with the Nine41 extension.
- All processing happens on your Mac. We never upload, store or see your screenshots.
- The Photos extension works only on the photo you choose to edit, through Photos. Nine41 doesn't read the rest of your photo library.
What We Collect
Anonymous usage analytics
Nine41 uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to learn which features people use and where things go wrong. It sends short, anonymous signals such as:
- that a screenshot was processed, and which device model it came from;
- which options were used (for example the status bar style, animation or save mode);
- errors and slow launches;
- the app version and macOS version.
Signals never include your screenshots, file names, file contents or personal information. TelemetryDeck uses a random identifier that isn't linked to you, and nothing is used for advertising or tracking.
Purchases
Apple processes all payments; we never see your payment details. To unlock Nine41 Pro, Nine41 uses RevenueCat, which receives a random identifier and your Nine41 purchase history from the App Store. It isn't linked to your name or Apple Account.
If you subscribe to Screenshots Pro Premium, our iPhone and iPad app, Premium includes Nine41 Pro. To recognise your subscription, Screenshots Pro saves a random identifier in your own iCloud storage, and Nine41 reads it so both apps use the same purchase record at RevenueCat. The identifier is only for unlocking purchases between our own apps. It isn't linked to your name or Apple Account, and it's never used for advertising or tracking. If you own Nine41 Pro, Nine41 doesn't read it.
Email you send us
If you email us, including the Share Feedback option in TestFlight and test builds, we receive what you send, which can include the screenshot and diagnostic report you chose to attach. We use it only to reply to you and to fix problems, and we'll delete it on request.
What's Stored on Your Mac
Your settings and your free export allowance are stored on your Mac, in a container shared by the Nine41 app and its Photos extension. They aren't sent to us.
What We Don't Do
- No accounts, no sign-in. The shared purchase identifier above lives in your iCloud storage, not with us.
- No advertising, and no tracking across apps or websites.
- We don't sell or share data with anyone, beyond the two services above, which process it only to provide their service to us.
Children
Nine41 isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from them.
Your Choices and Rights
Because analytics and purchase records are anonymous, we can't link them to you. If you've emailed us, you can ask us to see or delete that correspondence. Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), and similar laws where you live, you can ask what personal information we hold about you; for Nine41, that's only email you've sent us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date above. Significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
